Dr. Nitin Yashas is a consultant in Medical oncology and Hemato-oncology. He completed his Doctorate of National Board (DrNB) in Medical Oncology from Manipal Hospital where he was not only trained in the administration of chemotherapy but also advanced therapeutic options like Immunotherapy & Targeted therapy apart from management of Oncologic emergencies. He has expertise in management of all Solid malignancies like Breast Cancer, Lung cancer, Colon Cancer, Kidney Cancer, Prostate cancer, Gynaecological malignancies, Gastrointestinal cancers, etc and Hematolymphoid malignancies (Blood cancers) such as Leukemias, Lymphomas and Myeloma. He practices the latest evidence based medicine and believes in a comprehensive holistic multi-disciplinary approach to a patient. He is a strong proponent of the adage “Prevention is better than cure” and actively recommends Screening for early detection of various types of cancers and identification of hereditary cancer syndromes. His areas of Interest include Immunotherapy, Targeted therapy, Personalised medicine and Molecular Oncology. He has presented award winning research papers at various national conferences . His research paper on prognostic factors in treatment with immunotherapy and checkpoint inhibitors was one of the only few Indian papers presented at the Prestigious European Society of Medical Oncology’s (ESMO) Immuno-Oncology conference held at Geneva, Switzerland in 2019. Dr.Nitin Yashas completed his MBBS and his post graduation in internal medicine (MD) from St.John’s Medical College. He is also a Quizmaster and Public speaker. He is part of Alterdoctor- a platform for doctors and medical students to express themselves with the aim to enlighten and empower. He is passionate about the usage of Social media in spreading knowledge and awareness of health related topics and has created multiple online videos and has been invited to participate in webinars conducted by prestigious organizations such as Rotary Club, Press Bureau of India, etc.
